Pooh and I went with our friends to Big Bear this weekend to play in the snow. I grew up in Michigan and loved the snowy winters. I can remember walking to school in nearly 2 feet of snow with my face up to the sky and my tongue sticking out, hoping to catch a flake or two – hehe I guess I started at an early age. It would take me hours to get home from school because my friends and I would just play in the snow on our way home. When I think of my childhood, I think mostly of the snow – snow ball fights, snow men, snow angels, forts, castles, the most random stuff made of snow.

I haven’t seen snow in more than 17 years so I was extremely excited when Pooh told me we were going to go to Big Bear. We weren’t planning on going snow boarding or skiing, we just wanted to go and just enjoy the snow.

We had to stop by an Autozone to pick up some chains for our tires. Pooh wanted to get this but we sadly put it back and said “maybe next time…”.

Pooh and I have never been to Big Bear but our friends have gone before so they were our lovely tour guides. :) The trip up to Big Bear from our place is normally about 2 hours. Unfortunately, there were A LOT of people heading up the mountain so we were stuck in traffic. It took us about 3 hours to get there.

When we finally arrived, we were going to try inner tubing but they closed just as we got there. It was OK though. We ended up going to the city to just walk around, play in the snow, and grab a drink.

First stop, burgers and drinks at Murrays!

It was quite an experience. Although Pooh and I stuck out like a sore thumb, everyone was really nice and it looked like the whole bar was having a great time. They had the juke box blasting and everyone was dancing. It was a cute little bar and our bartender was the funniest ol’ lady. She stuck my credit card in her shirt! I was worried she wasn’t wearing a bra and might have left some titty residue on it but we were all having fun so it didn’t bother me much. :) We had quite a few drinks and played some pool.

Since we were all warmed up from the drinks. We went outside to frolic in the snow. We made snow angles, had snow ball fights, threw each other in mounds of snow – it was awesome!

After getting entirely covered in snow, we headed to Chad’s Place to grab a couple more drinks to warm up again. We had a couple Jaeger Bombs, some Lemon Drops, and played some pool.

I was a bit worried that we would have some trouble making our way down the mountain because the chain on one of our tires had come loose and flew off. Luckily, we found the chain and also another attachment that was randomly laying around that we were able to use to fasten it to our tire. As soon as we got the chain back on and made our way down the mountain it was a smooth ride the rest of the way. We had so much fun in the snow and it was definitely an adventure! It’s trips like these that brings friends closer. Being gay, and a couple, it’s definitely hard to make friends in the gay community. We have lots of friends that we go out and drink with, but we have very few close friends that we can just hang out with and have conversations with substance. I am so very happy that our friends Brent and Paul invited us to go up to Big Bear this weekend. Thanks guys! :)

Just thought I’d post my recent dance routine from my Thursday class. :) I had a lot of fun with this routine and it was great that some students that I taught yeaaaars ago came to take my class. After class we all went to True North to have some drinks, do some catching up, and reminisce about good ‘ol times.

My site was down for a while because I was updating my to WordPress Version 2.9.1. I ran into a bit of a problem during installation but everything seems to be working fine now. Let me know if you see any glitches. Thanks!

Since I didn’t get Pooh anything for Christmas and he has been talking about the Nexus One non-stop since it came out, I decided to get him one.  Unfortunately, both our plans for T-Mobile were uneligible for an upgrade (discounted rate w/ 2 year added on contract) so I ended up buying the unlocked phone at full price – but definitely worth it. He was extremely happy and couldn’t wait for it to ship. It included overnight shipping but since we ordered it at night, we didn’t get it until 2 days later (today actually).

He was like a little kid opening his presents on Christmas morning. I love seeing him so happy and full of excitement. We received the phone this morning at work. He came running to my office with the box in his hand and a huge smile on his face. I told him he could play with it at work but not to mess up the packaging; I wanted to take “unboxing pictures” as soon as we got home. I wish I had my camera to take pictures of him opening the box. His eyes lit up and his smile was stretching ear to ear. I love him so much!

The phone is an AWESOME phone. It’s extremely fast and runs on an impressive 1GHz Snapdragon processor. The handheld features a beautiful 3.7″ touchscreen display and 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. A FLASH!!! I really want to get one of these bad boys for myself since I’ve been complaining about the camera on my G1. The phone’s interface is much improved from my G1. The Nexus One has Android 2.1 OS offers a lot of customization and, unlike the iPhone, you can run several apps simultaneously. Yep, you can surf the web while playing music AND have your AIM running in the background. (I still wouldn’t mind a free iPhone if anyone were to offer… ;) One feature that really made me go “woah” was the awesome moving background/wallpapers. Pooh showed me one background that reacted to the music playing on his phone. This phone definitely makes my PDA, laptop, and desktop look obsolete. Hopefully I’ll be able to pick myself up one after working the corner on El Cajon for a couple minutes. Yep, minutes. :P

So I was trying to post about our New Years and man was it a blur. 2 weeks later, I’m trying to think of everything we did so I could blog about it and all I can remember is being intoxicated 90% of the time. It looks like we’ll never know what happened exactly, but I suppose the pictures pretty much say it all.

From what I recall, the days went like this…

DAY 1 – (Wednesday Dec 30th)
Pooh and I headed up to Vegas right after work. Our friends Jo and Aurbrey drove separately. Our buddy Gian let us all stay over at his place. When we arrived, we went to a gay bar called BUFFALO for drinks. We had a blast!

DAY 2 – (Thursday Dec 31st, NYE)
We spent the day walking around Vegas and being tourists. I had to do some shopping while we were in Vegas so I dragged everyone around the strip.

I really wanted to get M&M’s and an awesome M&M dispenser from M&M World…so I got one. :)

Mission Accomplished!

After we did our shopping, we headed to Gian’s place to get ready for New Years Eve. We had a preparty before we headed to the strip for the New Years Celebration!

We celebrated the count down right in front of Planet Hollywood…underneath Holly.

It was an awesome New Years Celebration!

DAY 3 – (New years Day)
We ended up driving back to San Diego on New Years day. After taking a power nap, we spontaneously decided to drive up to LA and party with our buddy Flo. We were going to go to Rage but the line was really long by the time we got to West Hollywood. We were at Fiesta Cantina and ran into one of my blog readers :)

It’s always nice running into people that read my blog. You guys can always say hi…I don’t bite! Well, sometimes. :)

We stayed the night at Flo’s place since we were far too intoxicated to head back to San Diego that night.

DAY 4 – Saturday Jan 2nd…
During our stay in Vegas, I just discovered CB2 as I was going through my friend Gian’s magazines. I was extremely excited when I found out there was a CB2 in West Hollywood! Pooh and I totally splurged any saved up funds for our trip to Vegas in CB2…but hey, when’s the next time I’ll be in Weho? I might as well buy what I can while we were there…is what I kept telling myself. After I over indulged my shopping cravings, we headed to Japantown to over indulge in Shabu Shabu.

If you’ve never had Shabu Shabu…you’ve definitely gotta try it! This post is already pretty long so google it if you don’t know what it is :)

After our amazing meal, we decided it was time we headed to San Diego for some much needed rest. While we were taking a nap in OUR bed, I got a text from my friend that Universal was closing and was throwing it’s final party that night. We called up our buddy David and prepared ourselves for our 3rd night of consuming massive amounts of alcohol. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pics from this night.

Day 5 and Day 6 – RECOVERY
We were off on Sunday and Monday but decided to spend the days just recovering. It was a pretty crazy New Years and the days following were a New Year celebration all on their own. It was great to have partied with our great friends in 3 days and in 3 different cities. I am very thankful to have such good friends in my life and I’m so happy to have my Poohburr in my life as well. Thanks for a great New Years! I look forward to an awesome 2010. Best wishes to everyone and I hope this year, and the years to come, brings you love and happiness in every form imaginable.
