SOOOOOO SLOOOOOOW – NEXT UPDATE
Now that I’ve finally got a new payment processor/gateway and successfully integrated it into my website, my next upgrade for my website is to speed up the loading times on my website. Those of you that have been following me for a while would know that this blog is 13 years old and although I’ve maintained it and upgraded it a bit here n there…it’s still very old and so some parts of it are very outdated.
Upgrading to PHP7 should speed up my website significantly but although I’m Asian, I’m not super tech savy when it comes to this stuff and I don’t wanna fuck it up. Lol. I’ll be doing a backup very soon, which will take forever since I have a lot of data/files since 2006, and then will attempt the upgrade. During this upgrade my website will be unavailable. I’ll post with an ETA on when I’ll be performing the upgrade (so that you don’t freak out when you find my site not working) when I’ve completed fully backing up my site. I just wanted to let you know that I’m still working hard at making your experience at Tiggah’s Life in Random better and better!

January 15, 2020I have several WordPress sites and I upgraded to PHP7.3, check WP system requirements page so you know for yourself. If you aren’t using one already consider a cache plugin, my host has its own, but don’t think Hostgator has. You can try to use a different dimension or compress your videos somehow to allow for quicker uploading. Just some random thoughts.

January 15, 2020I actually just got customer service to upgrade it for me. Upgrade was so fast and with no problems. I’m impressed! lol

January 18, 2020Upgrading PHP is usually instant. Most hosts will upgrade automatically but only to their approved version which could be 7.1, but to work best WP needs 7.3.
