GOING UNDER THE KNIFE, GOING UNDER

This Friday I’ll be having my surgery to fix my inguinal hernia.  It’s gotten worse since I first had it and they’ll no longer be able to do the procedure laparoscopically; they’ll need to make a large incision directly over the hernia to patch it up.  I’m a little scared. I have a huge anxiety when it comes to Doctor visits and hospitals.  I’m also worried about being put to sleep.  What if I wake up too early?  What if I don’t wake up?  I’m sure it’ll be fine.

I haven’t been able to sleep much lately.  My insomnia has been getting pretty bad.  Each night I’d have only 2 – 4 hours sleep.  The only way I’d get a decent night’s rest would be after having blacked out from too much to drink.  I know that’s not much better for me either.

I don’t know what’s wrong with me to be honest.  I guess I just have a lot going on right now and my mind just won’t shut off.  Hopefully having this surgery, having tons of pain meds, and having a bunch of days off to recover will help me get some rest.

Thanks everyone for the positive vibes and good luck wishes.  It feels nice to know you guys care.

Thank you also for still following my blog.  I love hearing people say “I used to read your blog!”…but I think I love hearing “I love/read your blog!” more.

I know what what you’re going through. You can only ride it out and let Pooh and you friends help. Hang with them as much as possible. Let them help carry your fear.

Best wishes. You are an inspiration to many.

Good luck with your operation. Its only normal to be apprehensive, let the health care workers know, they can make accommodations and reassure you everything will be fine. In the US you pay loads of $$ for health care so make sure you get your moneys worth. At least you have someone to pamper you when you come out as long as you behave yourself on your road to recovery.

I’ll be watching all of this with interest because I need to get the same thing done, but mine was at your stage for a very short time before it became worse (ugghh!) Its like giving birth to myself every time I stand up. Bitches don’t know nuthin’ ;-)

I’ve had the same surgery you’re having and other than a really unpleasant first few days of recovery it’s not too bad. you’re in much better health than I was when I had mine, so I’m
    sure you’ll do great.

Nothing is wrong with, what you’re going through is natural. I felt the same anxiety and worries when I had to go under the knife for the first time. I was at my lowest. That’s when I turned to God and found comfort in prayer and church and knowing the people I loved was praying for me too. I’ll keep you in my prayers and pray for a successful surgery and speedy recovery for you. God bless Tiggah and I look forward to reading more of your blog when you’ve recovered!

I’ve had two hernia operations, and neither recovery was too bad. One advantage you have is that you’re slender. Makes it easier for the doctor to operate, plus you recover more speedily. Good Luck!

I guess I have a low tolerance for pain because when my pain meds wear off it hurts like fuck. Did you have have it done laparoscopically?

Your pain should have eased up by now… But it’s normal to feel discomfort. No matter how minor, surgery is a shock to the body. (P.S. Love your sexy recovery pix.)
