NEW YORK!

image

We were originally going to Seattle for our Washington,  but then plans changed and now we’re going to New York!  Although I hate flying, I’m pretty excited because we’ve never been to New York and have always wanted to see what it was like.  We will be staying at Yotel in Times Square.  Let me know if there are any “must try” places…especially for FOOD AND DRINKS!

What do you think?

Take a romantic walk on the High Line. Out-of-the way ethnic neighborhoods offer the best food adventures (and at great prices). If you have time, explore Brooklyn. Have a fabulous time!

manhattan is great place but for foodtripping, i recommend queens – the most diverse out of the 5 boroughs. take the # 7 train. will take you from times square to main-st. flushing (chinese/korean).

Just an FYI for your trip to NYC — No need to publish online.
Buy a laminated “Streetwise Map Manhattan” at a local SD bookstore.
Wear boots on plane; bring coats as carry on; leave one suitcase half-empty (for the return).
Leave bling at home. Like Paris, Barcelona and Rome, pickpockets abound wherever crowding makes for easy prey (streets, subways, museums, bars and restaurants).
If NYC has snow, then melting slush can create huge puddles at crossings. Leave the leather shoes at home. [I remember three fashionista tourists in gorgeous Italian leather boots stranded at a street corner and SCREAMING because they couldn’t cross in the deep water but the crowd behind them pushed them closer and closer to the impending shoecastrophy!]
Have one plan for romantic wintry walks and another in case it’s bitter freezing cold. This is the cultural high season. If it’s your cup of tea then drink in theatre, museums, and dance. [NYC is the dance capital of the world.] Alternative scene is in Brooklyn.
Ride the subway. Talk with strangers. Walk. Explore. Discover. You’ll go to see the big stuff but will remember the little things.
