BANANA-QUE!

Pooh made some desert the other night. It was sweet and tasty!

1 Plantain (Large thin slices)
Brown Sugar (as little or as much as you like)
Olive Oil

Heat a thin layer of olive oil on a flat nonstick pan. Pooh doesn’t like using too much oil on our food so we usually use Pam Cooking Spray to lightly oil the pan. Sprinkle brown sugar on both sides of the plantain slices and then place them in the pan. Be sure not to use too much oil or it’ll splatter all over the place! Once the plantains turn to a golden brown color and when there’s a nice layer of caramelization, they’re ready to remove from the pan. Let them cool a bit and enjoy! Best served warm. I prefer thin crispy slices. Pooh prefers large soft slices. This is one of my favorite treats growing up in a filipino home. I hope you try this out sometime. Let me know how it goes!

i’ve always wanted some plaintains. the resturant i used to work at served carmelized plantains and it used to always make my mouth water everytime i saw it, but i never knew how simple it was to make. tomorrow i am driving myself to the nearest viet market and buying some plantains. the chunk next to it looks like some good ol’ mashed potatoes. yum. and even the cup looks lickable. sexy food…

Too cut down further on oil, try baking it. I saw a food stall use a turbo broiler to make banana-que. It was less greasy. They also stuffed it with a custard cream, adding more flavor. Yum!
