DATE DAY

image

Pooh and I had an incredible date day this past Monday.   We went to C-Level for lunch.  We’ve never been before and heard a lot of good things from our co-workers so we decided to give it a try.  Gotta love San Diego’s sunny winter weather!  It was so nice out and the view was great!  I got some fancy-shmancy fish and chips to go down with their C-level seafood Bloody Mary. It had a frikkin crab claw!

After lunch we went to get some macarons for me and frozen yogurt for him.  :)  ‘Lette just opened up at UTC in La Jolla so…why not?!  :)

By the time we were done walking around it was just about traffic hour so we figured…why not just keep driving north a bit and just hang out until traffic dies down?  So we went to Carlsbad outlets….grabbed some glassware at Crate & Barrel to replace ones broken during drunken weekends past.  Lol

On our way back down we stopped somewhere in Del Mar to watch the sunset.  Never really watched the sunset before.  It was beautiful.

We got back to San Diego and Pooh didn’t want to end the night just yet.  We went to Mo’s and grabbed a couple drinks.

Ok a lot of drinks…lol.  We got the drunken munchies so, with a Walgreens right across the street, we thought we’d test out these awesome pills.  Lactose relief!  Zomg I was soooooo happy to be eating cheese again.  Best dinner ever!!!

SUNDAY NIGHT

Pooh and I had a free night at the Spa Resort & Casino in Palm Springs so we thought we’d use it before our schedule got crazy (because of the holidays). We drove up Sunday, checked in, and just had ourselves a great night! I was surprised by how nice our room was. I honestly thought there would be floral bed sheets and old style furnishing. It was a bit like the Vdara but not as fancy; we were still very pleased. :). Since we were only staying for one night we made the best use of our “alone time” in the room…twice – once before going out and another returning after our night out on the town. We played a bit at the casino and then went to Hunter’s for some drinks. Afterwards we thought we’d check out the happy hour at Wang’s. We heard many good things about the place. It was a great happy hour – $2 wells, $4 martinis, happy hour priced apps, and a cutie bartender that poured us heavy drinks! What a great time we had at Wang’s! :) There was also an amazing singer that was performing in the outside patio area. She serenaded us for a bit! After a couple cocktails and some appetisers we thought we’d try out another place and have dinner. Thanks to Yelp, we found a great place called MatchBox! We had ourselves some more cocktails, a Crunchy Tuna Roll, Sliders, Seared Scallops, and a delicious pizza w/ no cheese! Dinner was delicious and so much fun! We chatted with an older couple that was seated next to us for quite a while. They were such cute couple and so much in love. They recommended us some places check out and we recommended them places as well. I’m excited to check these places out…some places you’d never think of going unless someone tells you about how awesome it is. After our lovely dinner we headed back to our hotel room. It was such a great night. It felt as though a couple days had passed but it was all squeezed into this one random Sunday. The awesome thing about this crazy weekend was that we’re off on Monday’s so we were able to enjoy our Monday as well! We checked out of our hotel Monday and headed back to SD…but not without going to Morongo casino along the way to play some games and enjoy ourselves a buffet for lunch! We sure did spoil ourselves this weekend!

9 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

I’ve just uploaded our Anniversary pics to the Galleries section of my blog. Since we couldn’t celebrate our Anniversary on Halloween, we did it the day after. It was kind of nice to have it on a Monday because we’ve been doing “DATE DAY” on Monday’s. It’s something we just started doing this year so it was nice to made our DATE DAY our special ANNIVERSARY DATE DAY!

(That paragraph was just one big giant redundant date day of a paragraph.)

It was a beautiful day so we went to Santa Monica Pier to have fun on the Boardwalk. We walked around, took pictures, and rode the large Ferris Wheel. It was so romantic!

We also went to Santa Monica Place to do some shopping. We were pretty surprised that we’ve never been to that part of town. It’s such a nice area and there’s so many nice stores to splurge at! We picked up a couple things here n’ there. I was going to pick up some new shoes at Nordstroms but they didn’t have the pair I wanted. I was going to get these awesome red and white Penguin shoes at South Coast Plaza’s Nordstroms but they didn’t have my size. I was very excited to see that they had a CB2! I stocked up on some cute stemless wine glasses and some stuff for the house.

We had dinner at The Chaya in Beverly Hills. It was amazing. Poohburr picked the place and made reservations. He made sure that it was a special night for us. He’s sooooooo sweet! Every time we have a special occasion dinner it gets better and better.

(Ahh bright flash! I look sleepy…could also be the alcohol…)

We started off with some cocktails and appetizers. Oysters and Escargot. We felt like being adventurous. I’ve never had Escargot before and was a bit nervous. I’m glad we tried it at The Chaya because it was delicious!

Pooh had the Steamed Black Cod w/ Manila Clams.

I had the Red Wine Braised Colorado Lamb Shank. It was so succulent and juicy! The meat melted off the bone like butter. It was so yummy! I cleaned my plate…really. I was so full but I loved every bite!

For dessert we had Affogato Pistachio Ice Cream with Green Tea. It was sweet end to a very sweet anniversary dinner!

I must also say that the service was excellent! Our server was SPOT ON with every detail. He even made sure that the waiter bringing out our entrees placed them on the table so that they presented all of the components on the dishes perfectly. He was very informative on recommendations with the menu and was extremely friendly. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and despite how fancy it was it didn’t feel at all pretentious. I very much enjoyed our experience at The Chaya and hope to return soon!

NORTHBOUND ON THE 5

image

One of my favorite things to do is just driving with my boo and going wherever the road takes us.  :)

When we first started going out I would say “just drive and we’ll have fun getting lost together”.  We’re likeThelma n Louise on the open road…without the driving over a cliff part.

DATE DAY 10-18-2010

Pooh and I had a late (very late) breakfast at Broken Yolk Cafe in Downtown. It was yummy! Especially since we spent all morning looking for bits and pieces for my Halloween costume. I still have a couple more things to pick up but at least I know what I’m going to be for Halloween. Pooh’s gonna be a Hawaiian boy and I’m going to be Cupid. Anyway, after having gone to a couple shops to look for stuff, we didn’t get to eat until 1pm! We couldn’t wait to stuff our faces with food!

After our 1pm breakfast, we went shopping. Since the weather is getting colder in SD, we thought we’d get ourselves some jackets. I love winter-wear! It’s so cozy and I love layering. I don’t have any pics unfortunately.

After we enjoyed our day of shopping and quality “Tigz & Pooh” time, we met up with our buddy David for drinks and dinner at Mo’s, followed by a final hoorahh at The Loft. We’ve been partying pretty hard the past couple of weeks so we thought we’d take it easy and not over do it. Surprisingly, we actually had just 1 drink at Mo’s and just 2 at The Loft. We went home early and Pooh and I enjoyed the rest of the night cuddling on the couch and watching Ghost Adventures (our new found addiction on TV).

DATE DAY – BABBO GRANDE

A couple weeks ago Pooh and I went to Babbo Grande for brunch. This was our first official Date-Day. Pooh thought it’d be nice to have a time away from our busy schedules to spend quality time together, aside from sitting around watching TV together and going out drinking with friends.

Brunch was great! I got the daily lunch special – spaghetti and a side salad for only 5 bucks! Pooh got scrambled eggs and and a side of potatoes. We also had to try a crepe for dessert since we heard their Crepes were amazing. We shared a Carmen Caramel Crepe w/ a scoop of ice cream. It WAS amazing! I highly recommend trying this place out if you’re in the mood for a good crepe.
