Pooh and I went to La Jolla to check out a new spot called Bardot Bars. Gourmet Ice Cream Bars…yum! (Cupcakes were so yesterday lol) I was just going to get Pooh one and have a taste since I’m lactose intolerant, but the worker said that her boss has a sensitivity to dairy and is able to eat them just fine. (Something about the dairy they use I guess?) Since they looked so delicious, I took her word for it and tried one. I forget what mine was called but it was the smores bar. Pooh got a strawberry cheesecake bar called the New York, New York. They were delicious! The storefront is pretty cute. Pooh said it looked like a Sephora that sold ice cream bars. The lady working was very nice and was right about the dairy. They are a bit pricy at 5 bucks a bar, but if you can spend 5 bucks on a frapp or on a fancy cupcake then it doesn’t really matter – especially if it tastes good. I think they’re yummy and can’t wait to try another! Pooh and I took our tasty treats out to watch the sun set. It was so romantic! :)
Pooh and I went to SF Pride last weekend. We had a blast! We arrived on Friday night and stayed with friends in Daly City. Saturday through Monday we stayed at the Westin in Union Square. I’m glad I was able to meet a lot of people that follow my blog/tumbler/Twitter, though I got a couple messages from people saying they were too scared to say hi. Next time just say hi! :) We don’t bite!
I love San Francisco and can’t wait to be able to go there “just to go” and not for some event like Pride or Folsom. Hopefully we can make another trip soon. Though, I guess next time we’ll fly – Pooh got a speeding ticket on our way up. Ugh.
I posted most of my pics from the weekend to my instagram. If you missed em, here they are!
Pooh and I picked up a new toy. No, not “that” kind of toy! We got a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Best Buy. There was a special promo from ShopKick (click my referral link if you’re interested – offer ends Nov 23rd), that if you purchase a Galaxy Tab you also get a free USB adapter and a $50 gift card! We’ve been wanting a tablet for a while and this one seems to be the best contender to the iPad2, so we thought we might as well take advantage of this great deal!
Blogging definitely feels easier on this thing than on my phone. :) We didn’t feel we needed a 32gig since I use Google/Picasa to store my images and Pooh uses Google Music to store all his music. We watch movies but we have an external hard drive that we can use to store and switch out files. If you want to just have everything on your tablet, then a 32gig might be for you. Otherwise, a 16gig should suffice. I still haven’t been able to play with it much but I’m loving it so far. I use an iPad2 at work and think both are great…but I think I’m more of an Android kind of guy. ;)
Pooh and I made a last minute random decision to go to Palm Springs this weekend for pride. We had work on Saturday but figured we could go up afterwards and stay till Sunday. Our friends David and RC said they’d join us so off we went for a crazy random weekend adventure! A friend of ours lives in Riverside so we were going to just stay at his place, but we ended up booking a hotel near Toucan’s.
On Saturday, we partied the night away at Toucan’s. We had such a good time! I would of thought they’d stay open another hour because of daylight savings time but they closed at 1:45am. :( It was ok because I was tired from driving us up.
Surprisingly, all got up pretty early on Sunday…7am early. I guess we were all just so excited to get Sunday Funday started! We grabbed breakfast at some random diner called Goody’s and headed to Downtown Palm Springs. We watched the parade a bit then went to Hunter’s. We wanted to check out the festival but it started raining, so we just partied till we tired out. Boy did we get tired! We had so much fun! We drank, we danced, we laughed, we spent a couple minuted oogling over a hot as hell Go-Go boy, but then it was time to head home. I didn’t want to drive back to SD too late so we grabbed some food and coffee, sobered up, and made our way back home. It was a pretty creepy drive at night through the mountains and the middle of nowhere. I definitely don’t ever want to drive that way at night ever again!
It was such a crazy fun weekend! I can’t wait to spend another in Palm Springs again soon. It felt as though we were there for a week! The cool thing is we are off today so we have another free day to have fun! Yay for Monday Funday! :)
