Brian’s & Dolce Freddo…& Chow recap

Pooh and I decided to try a new place for breakfast so we went to Brian’s American Eatery in Hillcrest! The food was great, the portions were gigantic, and the prices were definitely reasonable! The menu is pretty extensive and offers a wide variety of yummy selections. Brian’s is simple yet charming in style, and satisfies ten times more than Denny’s. Yea, I said it. =P There’s so much on the menu to try so I guess I should visit Brian’s often!

I had waffles with a sunny-side-up egg…(the only way I like em!)…oh and Pooh’s honey biscuit (he’s on his low carb diet again).

Pooh had a Chorizo Omelette with a side of sliced tomatoes instead of potatoes :)…and I had his honey biscuit!

deeeeelicious!!!

Pooh and I went with our friend to Dolce Freddo, a new yogurt place in Hillcrest. These yogurt places seem to be popping up everywhere. (o.O) There’s one being built just a block away from our house. We’re excited because it looks like it’ll be a cool place to hang out! There’s also a pinkberry being built just a couple blocks away from our house as well.

Anyway, I got green tea yogurt with mochi toppings…

it was nice n creamy…definitely yummy! and I love mochi!

Our friend got blueberry yogurt with strawberry toppings…

I tried it…and it was pretty good…but mine was better! :)

Pooh didn’t get any since he’s low carb :(

ahh well..

Going back in time…(it’s my blog…it doesn’t matter if I go in chronological order!)…to a time…before Pooh’s low carb diet…

Last week Pooh and I went to Chow Noodle House in Hillcrest. We noticed that Celadon had relocated to it’s newer, hipper, prettier, trendier location on Fifth Ave in Hillcrest – which we’ll have to try sometime. In it’s place is Chow Noodle House – a pleasant harmony of Vietnamese, Thai, Japanese and Chinese cuisine. Chow is stylishly sleek and contemporary in design so we were caught off guard by how inexpensive everything was! The highest priced entree was $11!?!? The wine and alcohol was reasonably priced as well. But could something so cheap taste good?

We started with appetizers. We asked the waiter what he recommended. And so we tried the recommended Fresh Spring Rolls…

They were extremely tasty and definitely recommendation material!

We then moved on to entrees. Pooh tried the Japanese 360degree Beef.

I tasted it. The meat was so succulent and savory…I really enjoyed it!

I had the Vietnamese Noodle Soup (pho).

It tasted really really good! However, the only thing that put me off was that in the back of my mind I knew that I could get the same thing for much less at a normal Vietnamese Soup/pho house…but the quality and taste is much better at Chow.

Pooh and I went on a double date with some friends and took them to Chow a couple days later (which I posted in a previous post). I was then able to try a different entree – Drunken Noodles with beef. It was excellent!

Chow has definitely been added to our frequent “Dining-Out” list. :)

3 new places to eat…and all of them great in their own way :) I LOVE food!!!! If you’re ever in the area…you might want to stop by one of these fabulous places! Enjoy!

San Diego Pride Weekend Pt. 2

So Pooh and I drove home from our friends house after a crazy night of alcoholism and gayness. We washed up, changed, and were pretty hungry! We went to City Bagel just a block away from our house to have some breakfast :)

We went home to chill for a while…then decided to be random and buy a new bed! (which I posted in a previous post)

After putting it together…we met up with some friends at the pride festival in Balboa.

ah yes…pride…where gay forces unite, and create…captain planet.

Pooh and I actually didn’t stay long. We were pooped from the bonfire and putting our new bed together, so we jut said hi and bye to our friends.

well that was it for our pride celebration! Mucho fun-o!

…later that day…

Two of our buddies from out of town were going back home so we had dinner before they left. We took them to a new place called Chow Noodle House. Chow is now where Celadon used to be :)

The food was really yummy! I’ll put up a post on the restaurant soon. There’s a lot about the place that I’d like to share. I recommend anyone in the area to definitely check it out!

We were pretty sad to see our friends go, but I can’t wait next time :)

San Diego Pride Weekend

I’ve been meaning to post this for quite some time, but just haven’t had much time to sit down with my laptop.

Last week was San Diego Pride weekend. Pooh and I didn’t really do much, but we were able to meet up with some friends from out of town and hang out.

We went to the “System of a Downe’s” Bonfire in La Jolla. Pooh and I are good friends with some of the people that hold the event every year so we usually go to say hi :)

At the bonfire, we were able to meet up with friends from out of town and also made some new friends! …some pretty HOT friends…:)

We were all given name tags so we could meet people…

joanna was pretty creative…

ours only made sense when we were together…

oh and yes…we were drunk :)
::insert flashback sequence here::

::haha back to the bonfire::
there weren’t just hot guys there…there were also lots of hot girls there too!
but back to the hot guys…

Pooh and I finally got to meet some friends we made online but never met in person!

Afterwards…we crashed at our friend’s house.
Pooh passed out right away…
…the rest of us built forts out of the sofas and cushions!

it was a long and tiring drive home the next morning =T

Beautiful Monday :)

San Diego is definitely where you want to be during the summer! Days are simply gorgeous!

Pooh and I decided start the day with breakfast at The Mission in Northpark.

I had French Toast with a side of eggs

Pooh had Blueberry Cornmeal Pancakes

Afterwards, we stopped by Starbucks to get ourselves something refreshing to cool off.

mmmmmm!

Pooh and I wanted to enjoy the beautiful day…and what better way than to enjoy it at the beach! Pooh and I don’t go to the beach much. I’m honestly not too fond of the sun (::hisses at the harsh sun:: er…I’m more of a night kinda guy) and I’m not really into the beach…I mean, I love the beach, I think it’s beautiful…but I don’t like getting in the water and having sand stuck all over my feet…it’s just too messy =X I’m obsessive compulsive and really don’t like getting dirty. I’m also pretty insecure when it comes to goin to the beach and being shirtless in public. I feel very…bleh. Anyway, with a bit of persuasion, Pooh and I decided to go to the beach. (Pooh on the other hand, LOVES water and the beach…he’s like a lil kid when it comes to playing in the sand and in the water!)

We just had one problem…we haven’t gone to the beach in years…and neither of us had beach-wear! We ended up having to buy shorts, sandals, sunblock, and towels.

Afterwards, we got ready…

And headed to Coronado Beach!

But oh no!….::gasps::

When we got to the beach…it was all clouds and no sun! Boo!!!!

We were going to head home…but we decided to try goin to another beach and see if it’d be sunny there. So we headed to Mission Beach to see if it’d have sunny skies.
Fortunately…

…the sun was shinin!

There were still a couple clouds…but it was still pretty sunny and it felt great!

It was a great day at the beach! Oh, and I snuck in a picture of that hot surfer guy :)

Pooh was pooped! It was a pretty long day :)
It felt really nice to just lay down at the beach and just enjoy the sun. We’re thinking about going to the beach again next week. It’s just so much work…bleh…sand all over the place!

Pooh and I have been pretty busy the past couple of weeks! My has the time flown by! Aside from some fun summer events, Pooh and I have been drinking much more than usual after work. I’ve got so many pics to share! Since I haven’t got too much time to write about each pic in detail…I’ll just be posting some pics from our exciting adventures and adding a couple captions. Yes, this will be a pretty long post…make use of your page up and down buttons! Enjoy!

It’s summer! You know what that means…beautiful days at the beach!

And yummy Sushi!

And Del Mar Fair!

mmm fair food!

ooo speaking of fair…we were invited to attend a hawaiian fair bbq event thing…it was fun!

Pooh and I picked up a new cookbook from Borders…we’ve been cooking up a storm for dinner each night!

mmm homemade spez-ghet-ti & MEATYballz!

and yummy homemade salmon stuffed with cream cheeze n chives and a side of herb rice!

oh yea…my sister got engaged! we had a little engagement party thing…just a little one :)

I came for the free booze

these are all mine…there’s another table for the rest of the guests :)

Pooh and I also took some time to paint our living room!

er…I painted while Pooh watched…(>.<) only had one roller haha!

we still need to put up the designs…but we got our base color up :)

We got a new spotlight for our livingroom! It’s awesome! It comes with a bunch of different colors and settings :) Fun!

Our friends came over to enjoy the new look…however…everyone seems to be preoccupied with their phones…

Omg…we were horrified when we went out for a late snack…we took a seat after receiving our food…and gasped at the “B” rating posted on the window!!! How the hell do you get a “B” rating?!

Speaking of food…Pooh and I have been enjoying yummy Bagels for breakfast from City Bagels!

Hmmm…btw…it’s pride weekend in San Diego this week! Happy Happy weekend!!!

mmm sushi at Bamboo Hut!

Our Sushi Chef was frikkin cute…and he kept hooking us up with more sushi and yummies :)

mmm garlic edamame!

Sapporo!

Last night, Pooh and I went with a friend of ours to Bamboo lounge for a bottle of one of my favorite wines, Proyecto 4!
I have no idea what the hell they’re staring at…

lol…we finished the bottle in 10 minutes…seriously… :)

Tonight, Pooh and I made our own homemade Thai Panang Curry with Chicken, Shrimp, Pineapples, and Bell Peppers! Yummy!

Phew…that was a long post!
Ok…this post was definitely random…I still have to post our fun day at the beach…but I’d like to save it for a post on its own :) I’ll try to post it soon :)

CrabCatcher

Pooh and I had lunch at CrabCatcher Restaurant and Seaside Grill for the first time. We thought we’d try something new and it was a beautiful day…so we headed to beautiful La Jolla Shores to enjoy our day.

Pooh and I started with yummy stuffed mushrooms…

Pooh had Grilled Prawns

I ordered one of their specials, “Catch of the Day”. It was a delicious Halibut…however, for some reason the picture I took of my dish didn’t save? (o.O)

Our waitress was extremely pleasant and the service was great! She even offered to take our picture for us. Oh look, there’s my Halibut! :)

The view was beautiful :)

I absolutely LOVE seafood! We had a great time at CrabCatcher and definitely will be adding it to our dining out list :)
